Annular brooch

This brooch is in the form of a six-pointed star over a circle. The small holes probably held semi-precious stones. Most gems had symbolic meanings in the Medieval world so the choice and positioning of the gems probably held meaning for the owner.

Purchased through Treasure Act with assistance from the Headley Trust and the V&A Purchase Grant Fund.
