Temple mask

Due to the scarcity of trees, Tibetan masks were often made of papier-mâché. In Vajrayana Buddhism, this is the face of a dharmapala, a protector of the law and Mahakala, the lord of time. The skull crowns symbolise the transformation of the five sins into wisdom.
