Carved figure of Ganesh

Ganesh is a popular Hindu deity of practical wisdom, and who is also the remover of obstacles. He was the son of Shiva and Parvati. He is holding an elephant goad (ankush) and an axe, also a bowl of sweetmeats. One of his tusks is broken.

This carving in alabaster was produced in the 19th century.
