This image is a photograph of a book page and shows the ‘diamond district’ in Minas Geraes, Brazil, consisting of a river and river bank, with a diamond hunter on horse back. The slides originally belonged to Miss Edith Aviolet, sub-curator of the museum in the early twentieth century, who had a special interest in geology and held public lectures on this and other natural history topics.
