Jug

Edwin Beer Fishley inherited the Fishley pottery 1865. He responded to the popular Art Pottery aesthetics of the time blended with North Devon slip traditions. The body of this jug has been ribbed and the colour is derived from copper in the glaze.
E B Fishley was much admired by the studio potters Michael Cardew, Bernard Leach and Shoji Hamada. Leach and Hamada called him ‘the Last Peasant Potter’.
