Club

Ceremonial club, with lime-inlaid scroll work and incised with a frigate bird design.
Massim sword clubs were widespread throughout Massim society and worn by men in their everyday activities. They were for predominantly ceremonial purposes, with occasional use to resolve disagreements such as conflicts over women or garden boundaries. They usually have intricate and elaborate engravings suitable for displaying a warrior’s military splendor.
