Cap

Trade with Euro-Americans brought new materials to the Americas like velvet, glass beads and ribbons. This cap imitates the Scottish bonnet worn by Highland regiments and immigrants. Haudenosaunee women crafters reproduced these caps, and decorated them with a floral style for the emerging tourist economy around Niagara Falls.

Transferred from Woodspring Museum, Weston-super-Mare.
