Glass plate negative of Seaton mosaic

During the spring of 1921 workmen planting fruit trees in a field in Seaton discovered a Roman mosaic. It was badly damaged and the tesserae cubes were very loose, so it was decided to remove them to this museum. This photograph was taken by F R Rowley, the curator of the museum at that time, and is one of two known images recording the mosaic before it was removed from the ground.
