Whip

The lace bark whip is associated with the history of slavery in the Caribbean. This was very likely made as a souvenir.

Lagetta lagetto, or lace bark/ gauze tree, is native to several Caribbean islands, including Jamaica. The material is referred to in 17th century writings about Jamaica and the West Indies. The use of this material by the indigenous population was not recorded.
