Aryballos

This small vessel is shaped like a warrior’s head wearing a helmet, with a spout at the top of the head. It was used to store perfumed oil, and may have been used in burials or may have been an ancient Greek souvenir. Its provenance suggests it was excavated by Sir Alfred Biliotti during his important work at the acropolis of Cameiros between 1852 and 1864.
