Figure of a dog

219/1982/1 and 219/1982/2 are a pair of ornamental ceramic spaniels. They are likely to have been made in North Devon, although they are unsigned. They have been made from two moulds then decorated with patches of coloured slip (=thin clay), painted onto the body of dark brown (probably Fremington) clay. A clear glaze has been applied to the earthenware dogs before final firing.
