Boy’s naval suit waistcoat

This jacket and waistcoat take their inspiration from the midshipman’s uniform. The dark blue wool jackets with stand up collar and brass buttons were very popular during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries for boys of all ages. Girls would wear sailor style dresses with broad collars. This outfit was worn by a C. de M. Lucas.
