Binche lace sample
Mrs Bury Palliser has dated this sample of Flemish lace to the seventeenth or eighteenth century. She collected this piece as an example of a fine bobbin lace, either Valenciennes or Binche. The design used variations of the snowflake ground combined with elegant scrolls of foliage and flowers.
