Jug
This jug (shown on the left in the photograph) was discovered in a medieval rubbish pit in Exeter. The fine white clay and multi-coloured decoration show it was made in Saintinge, South West France, and it would have looked very different to the red clay jugs made locally. It is decorated with lines surrounding two central panels, and a man’s face made from clay is applied to the rim.
