Jug

This jug (shown on the right in the photograph) was discovered in a medieval rubbish pit in Exeter. The fine white clay and multi-coloured decoration show it was made in South West France, and it would have looked very different to the red clay jugs made locally. The image depicts two birds with long tails.
The Exeter: a Place in Time (EAPIT) project has recently carried out research on medieval French pottery from Exeter.
