Female figurine holding a tambourine
This stylised figurine depicts a female holding a tambourine in her hands. She appears to be wearing a veil. Figurines like this were very popular in the Cypriot Iron Age and were often left at temple sites. They probably represent worshippers of the goddess Astarte. The man who donated this object to the museum was Commissioner of Larnaca between 1879 and 1908 and collected many archaeological objects during his time on the island of Cyprus. Unfortunately he did not record where any of the objects were discovered.
