Salmon Pool. This part of the River Exe derived its name from the number of Salmon formerly taken here, it is situated between James and Trew’s Weirs about a mile from the city. St James’s Chappel (sic) stood close to the Weir bearing its name and a small farm now occupies its site and retains the name. The little farm known as Salmon Pool is much frequented as a Tea and Junket House. The latter is a term peculiarly Devonian. Sketched 2 June 1829
