Magic Lantern Slide: Ramsgate - King Post, Roof of St Lawrence's Church

This slide by William Weaver Baker is believed to show the roof of St Lawrence Church in Ramsgate. The focus of the photograph is an architectural feature called a ‘king post’, otherwise known as a crown post, which stands on a beam to support the roof. There were six of these posts in St Lawrence’s, two of which were restored in the nineteenth century. It is unclear if the one pictured was restored or original. It appears Weaver Baker visited this church and found this method of roofing interesting so decided to record it.
