Magic Lantern Slide: Consistory Court, Chester Cathedral
This photographic slide by William Weaver Baker shows the Consistory Court at Chester Cathedral. The room in which this photograph was taken is in the south-west corner of the cathedral and formerly used as an ecclesiastical court until 1930, and is a rare survival. The image shows the judge’s chair. Today the carved canopy decoration has been painted in bright colours, but this shows it before this restoration work. The image is part of a set created by Weaver Baker while on holiday in the region.
