Magic Lantern Slide: The Fireplace and Panelling at 171 Fore Street, Exeter

This photographic image by William Weaver Baker records 171 Fore Street, which was one of Exeter’s finest historic buildings. The ornately carved fireplace and panelling no longer survive, and this image is a rare survival of their appearance, although similar items are now in the museum’s collection. Weaver Baker was very interested in historic architecture, and recorded many sites in Exeter and beyond.
