Brooch

This brooch was found during excavations at the Roman site in St Loyes, Exeter and was conserved by the museum’s conservation team. It is a type of brooch known as ‘applied hook’, and is decorated along the front with a incised decoration. The chunky pin, which originally attached the brooch to clothing, now sticks out away from the brooch because of damage caused when it was buried in the ground.
