This photograph by Alfred Oliver Rowden shows a crowd of local people in a variety of styles of clothing, with a number of military men behind. Rowden was in Mesopotamia during the First World War and was not sent home until 1919 or 1920. He photographed daily scenes like this to record his experiences.
