Amulet

Amulets were worn to protect the wearer or provide the wearer with the attributes represented by the amulet. This amulet is rather crudely made and it is difficult to identify with certainty. When it was donated to the museum by Flinders Petrie in 1906 it was identified as a pylon symbol, closely linked to temples. It may instead depict a sow, the symbol of the sky goddess Nut.
