Kylix

This ancient Greek wine cup is decorated on both sides with two large eyes. Eyes are an ancient symbol of protection and these were probably intended to act as amulets to protect the drinkers from harm. It is one of the over 800 classical archaeological objects, which Lt Col LAD Montague collected and bequeathed to the museum on his death.
