Magic Lantern Slide: Candlestick made in, Exeter, c.1740
This slide is within a group of images of silver objects made or sold in Exeter. It depicts a silver gilt candlestick which was made around 1740 by an unknown maker. All the objects in this group of photographs were held in the private collection of Brufords, an Exeter silversmith and retailer, with the earliest item made in 1571 and the latest in 1743. The photographs were taken in 1934 by Mr Weaver Baker who was a keen amateur photographer with a passion for historic Exeter, its archaeology and relics.
