Mol’s Coffee House, Exeter
Alan Richards is a printmaker, painter and teacher born in St Agnes, Cornwall. From 1958 he taught at Exeter College of Art and Design and became head of Fine Art in 1979. He has exhibited works at the Royal Cambrian Academy, Newlyn Art Society, The Margaret Fischer Gallery and University College, Swansea. In 2000 he showed some 40 paintings at RAMM.
Although well-travelled, Richards has long been inspired by Devon, and Dartmoor in particular. The exuberant colours and strong sense of pattern are typical of his works.
