The Castle

Landscape of ‘The Castle’, attributed to Thomas Friedenson, c.1918. The artist's given name was Joseph Friedenson and he later added the second name Thomas. He exhibited at the Royal Academy as Thomas Friedenson, but is better known as the Australian artist, Joseph Friedenson, having lived there for many years since shortly after the end of World War One. This oil on board landscape depicts a sunny and cloud-scattered blue sky with green-fielded valley below a large stone castle, rising up on a hill.
