Fin whale

The fin whale is the second largest living creature, after the blue whale. It occurs in all the major oceans of the world and populations are slowly recovering following the cessation of whaling in the twentieth century. These baleen plates are from a juvenile individual found dead at Hartland Quay in Devon. Donated under a Natural England licence.
