Kagu

Herbert Whitley presented this male kagu to the University College of the South West in 1940. It is one of four birds now at RAMM. They were part of a breeding programme at Primely (Paignton) Zoo. The Magazine of Aviculture reports that Whitley managed to hatch a chick, but little else is recorded.

Label notes: Iris deep crimson. Legs & feet darkish brown. bill yellowish horn around nostrils brown.
