Casserole dish with lid
In 1956 Michael Skipwith bought Old Stoke Farm in Stoke Gabriel, Devon, to convert to a pottery. He ran it with number of assistants. It became known as Lotus pottery and developed production lines of tableware and ornamental pieces.
Skipwith became a supporter of the Devon Guild of Craftsmen and in 1986 he was instrumental, with David Leach, in helping the Guild to find their current premises at Riverside Mill in Bovey Tracey. [Formerly the Guild of Devon Craftsmen, founded in 1956- it became Devon Guild in 1964 and is now called Make Southwest.]
