Cellularia avicularia: moss animal

Cellularia avicularia is a marine animal known as a bryozoan or moss animal. They form colonies that resemble plants and feed by filtering small particles out of the water. PH Gosse published illustrations very similar to these in his book ‘A Naturalist’s Rambles on the Devonshire Coast’ plate 10.
