Tayenebe

Made by Auntie Eva Richardson. Basket making allows people to keep the knowledge and skills of their ancestors. Its helps people maintain an Aboriginal identity that was almost lost in the 19th century. This item was gifted to RAMM by Eva in exchange for the Truganini shell jewellery that was returned to Tasmania in 1997.

This basket was made using jackie vine or Cuscuta tasmania.
