On the Castle Wall, Exeter

Gendall, born in Exeter, was in London by 1811 working for Ackerman’s where he produced drawings to be engraved. He returned to Exeter in the late 1820s and moved into Mol’s Coffee House in the Cathedral Close in 1833-34. There he worked as a drawing master, carriage painter, carver and gilder.
