Clay figure of a stag

89/1928/5 and 89/1928/6 form a pair of ornaments. They show a stag and doe respectively and were made in North Devon probably by George Fishley of Fremington. The ornaments are constructed from rolled clay for the base with modelled clay applied for the tree stumps, animals and foliage. White clay from around Bideford would have been used to make the lighter colours while the darker earthenware is from Fremington clay.
