Candlestick

This very simple candlestick is made from clay and contains the remains of a wax candle. Candlesticks like this were probably very common but as they were made from very cheap materials they were thrown away when they were broken or no longer needed. This one was donated to the museum in 1923 after it was found during alterations to the premises of the Express & Echo offices in High Street, Exeter.
