Russian flax bale seal

A seal from a bale of flax exported from the port of Archangel in Russia. The seal identifies the cargo as flax and the place the flax came from, in this case the Lower Sukhona River. It also lists the export port of Archangel and the port inspector.
This seal was found in the River Yeo near Crediton. Research by Michael Patrick suggests that the bale had been purchased for weaving linen cloth at a flax mill at Fordton near Crediton.
