Door lock

This door lock was donated to the museum in 1876 by Mr William Henry Hamilton Rogers who was a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries specialising in the history of the English Westcountry. He lived in Colyton, Devon and he records this object was an “Old iron lock taken from [an] old farmhouse at Colyton”. It is uncertain when the lock was made but it is likely to have been at least 100 years old when he acquired it in order for it to have been classed as ‘ancient’.
