Lebes gamikos
This ancient Greek vessel is a Lebes Gamikos which was used in a marriage ceremony. It is badly damaged with old cracks and repairs to the vessel, and is missing its handles and lids. It was recently x-rayed and it is possible that it has been reconstructed from two separate Greek vases joined together. It was donated to the museum in 1874 and most of the repairs and reconstruction work were done before it became a museum object.
