Oil lamp with rabbit image

This Roman oil lamp is decorated with the image of a rabbit leaping over the filling hole. It was donated to the museum in 1874 by Mr Winslow Jones, who donated many archaeological objects to the museum. He recorded the lamp had been found in Pompeii but this is not certain, as many objects sold to Victorian tourists were said to have been found at the ancient city as it increased their value.
