Dagger

This dagger was found with a cremation burial in a barrow at Huntshaw excavated in 1867. With the dagger were found a quantity of oak and beech leaves. Daggers such as this seem to have been high status weapons. Many have hilts made from ornate and expensive materials such as amber and gold. The leaves may have formed a burial covering.
