Spear

This long barbed spear is called a sokilaki was acquired sometime before 1845 by Henry Phillpotts who fought and died in New Zealand. The shaft is normally thickened in the centre to offer a balance. The barbs are designed to make the removal of the weapon from the injury extremely difficult.
