Amulet

This shamanic ritual amulet is made from a bear’s tooth, which has been carved into the shape of a wolf. The hole at the base of the tooth would have been used to attach the amulet to a shaman’s apron.

This item was collected by midshipman John Woodward Scott. He sailed with Captain George Vancouver to the Northwest Coast and Southeast Alaska, 1791-5.
