Heart urchin
Fossil of a burrowing heart-shaped urchin preserved in chalk from the Late Cretaceous (65-145 million years ago). It was found in Sidmouth and is from FWL Ross’ collection. On the East Devon beaches the sharp-eyed may find preserved sea urchins which can be identified by their fivefold symmetry just like their relatives the starfish.
