Ceramic seat

This Victorian ceramic seat is one of a pair, gifted to RAMM in 1892.
The glaze decoration is majolica style and includes coloured underglazes painted onto raised decorative features such as flowers and foliage. The decorative design is arranged in symmetrical panels. The top of the seat is pierced and the pair are based on Chinese styles. It was probably made in the Staffordshire potteries.
