Magic Lantern Slide: A Wooden Chalice, 1608

This magic lantern slide shows a highly decorated wooden chalice. The handwritten title to the left of the photograph identifies the date of production for the chalice as 1608. Another slide shows the base of this chalice (see 313/1977/643). The photograph was taken by William Weaver Baker, who was very interested in Devon’s history and heritage. His magic lantern slide collection contains a large number of images of historic objects, but unfortunately he did not record where this object was located.
