Magic Lantern Slide: Inscription on base of Chalice

This magic lantern slide shows the base of a wooden chalice, the main body of which was also photographed by William Weaver Baker (see 313/1977/642). The base of the chalice has five circles of inscription that relate to the cleansing of sin and the power of Christ’s death. Baker was very interested in Devon’s history and heritage and his slide collection contains many images of historic objects, but unfortunately he did not record where this object was located.
