Weather vane
This weather vane is in the form of a wyvern - a kind of dragon common in European folklore, mythology and heraldry. It was used as target practice during the Civil War in Exeter. The dents are said to have been made by musket balls. It originally sat on top of the city's North Gate until this was demolished in 1769, after which it was moved to the Quay. It was brought back to the site of the North Gate in 1897 for the celebrations of Queen Victoria's Jubilee. A replica now stands on the Iron Bridge.
