Pair of pockets

Made of linen with tapes at the top to tie around the waist. Ladies gowns did not have pockets sewn into them during the 18th century. Separate pockets were used that could be worn either singly or as a pair. Pockets like this were worn under the petticoat. Petticoat was a term used for the skirt in the 18th century.
