Clotted cream stove

A ceramic stove used to scald milk during the production of clotted cream, one of Devon’s traditional foodstuffs. In this method a wide pan of creamy milk was placed on the stove and then gently heated until a buttery crust had formed on the surface. The cream was then cooled on a slate surface and this crust removed to form the delicious clotted cream.
