Tin-glazed earthenware dish
This dish was made in Seville in Spain and is a type of tin-glazed pottery called ‘Columbia Plain Ware’. Exeter had a long-standing trade with Spain, importing wine and fruits, wool and iron. This pottery probably arrived with these cargoes.
The Exeter: a Place in Time (EAPIT) project has recently carried out research on Spanish pottery from Exeter.
